Models of Youth Registered Apprenticeship Expansion
About
This report describes the experiences of the DOL-funded Youth Apprenticeship Readiness Grantees (YARG) and organizes the grantees into a typology of youth apprenticeship expansion models. The models describe different strategies for organizing partners, training and services to expand youth apprenticeship. Findings indicate the importance of considering how youth apprenticeship intermediaries coordinate partners and employers to ensure the success of youth apprentices.
The models identified by this study can be used to inform future apprenticeship program implementation. The report draws on existing literature on youth apprenticeship, analysis of the Registered Apprenticeship Partners Information Data System, and YARG grant documents. The results of the report provide context and inform the implementation evaluation of YARG programs.
