Celebrating Second Chance Month in April

About

The Reentry Employment Opportunities (REO) program is excited to celebrate Second Chance Month. Every April offers an opportunity to reflect on the impact of the 2008 passing of the Second Chance Act (SCA) and to highlight the work REO grantees do everyday to support the reentry community.
The REO program is excited to celebrate Second Chance Month. Every April offers an opportunity to reflect on the impact of the 2008 passing of the SCA and to highlight the work REO grantees do everyday to support the reentry community.

As part of the 2008 passing of (and 2018 reauthorization of) the SCA, the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) within the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs manages Second Chance Act grant programs. BJA also funds the National Reentry Resource Center (NRRC), which was established by the SCA in 2008. The NRRC provides invaluable information and resources related to reentry.

We encourage the members of REO’s Community of Practice to spread the word about Second Chance Month and highlight the positive effects that reentry programs have on all populations by improving public safety, increasing employment, and reducing crime.
